Portland folk rock band The Prairie Benders are celebrating the release of their second album, When Fences Go to Heaven, with a special show. Beyond their fiddle-forward folk rock sound, they’ll be joined by Raymond Richards on pedal steel (Mazzy Star/ Mojave 3), Stephen Freeman Moore on banjo (The Good Long Whiles/ TapWater), and Olivia Horgan on second fiddle (The Celtic Light Orchestra/ Whole Grain Loafers), making this one of the most unique Prairie Benders performances to date.
Opening the night is singer/songwriter Jarrett Killen, joined by an exceptional band of Portland musicians including Taylor Kingman (TK & The Holy Know-Nothings), Luke Messimer and Raymond Richards. Killen's music is authentically his own, finding himself somewhere between an old honky tonk and a New Orleans funeral band.
The celebration takes place at Artichoke Music, a nonprofit community center and performance venue known for its intimate listening room/ bar with excellent sound. Beer, wine, soft drinks, and light snacks are available for purchase in the café. There are no added fees for advance ticket sales—all proceeds go directly to the musicians and the nonprofit community center—so don’t miss this special occasion!
$15 Advance (no added fee's). $20 Door.

3 days of music at Portland Playhouse. From event organizer: Join us for the second annual Easyfolk Fest, taking place August 7–9, 2025, at Portland Playhouse. Born from a deep love for the Pacific Northwest’s creative pulse, Easyfolk Fest is a genre-blurring, community-rooted music festival that celebrates the richness, range, and soul of Portland’s local music scene. Over the course of three days and four unique showcases, audiences are invited to immerse themselves in a dynamic blend of musical styles—from modern folk and heartfelt Americana to atmospheric harmonies, soulful balladry, and swanky pop.
